6th blog PHONY EXCSUES.

BLOG#6

Point- These phony excuses Maria made actually gave her some hope and faith after Mrs. Seth. I believe Mrs. Seth changed Marias perspective on the thought of school. You have to remember her dad told her she was going to be nothing but a prostitute.

Illustration-  Mrs. Seth said “ Did you write this? She ask me. Of course, she knows I wrote it, but she seems disbelieving. You wrote this? She asks again. Eventually I realize that she is not disappointed. Instead, she  is telling me something incredible and wonderful. She is saying that my work is good, and that she is very happy with what I’ve given her. She is telling me that I can succeed here.

Explanation- I think Mrs. Seth cried when she read Marias phony excuses because she was shocked with dis belief that she had actually turned something in. Maria did a good job Mrs. Seth said it was good she was just very happy she had actually turned something into her.

I was forced to up and move my 8th grade year in middle school. That was something so difficult for me. It was very hard and frightening. Somewhere I’ve lived my whole life, had my childhood there and I had to up and move. It was the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.   I didn’t know anyone I had to make new friends. Very hard to let go of back home and it was scary to be somewhere I’ve never been in a new house my dad built from ground up. In the beginning I never thought it was worthwhile. I thought it was the worst thing that could have ever happened to me. I didn’t think doing it would ever be worthwhile but I was fourteen. When your fourteen and something happens like that of course anyone would think, it’s the worst thing ever or definitely wouldn’t be happy about it . As I  have gotten older many things started to change like my mindset and same as Marias  did. After I moved to this new little bitty town a year later  I actually learned to love it and have met many great friends along the way. I found the one positive person to keep me right. Maybe that’s who Mrs. Seth was to Maria after reading her work . After moving I felt so sad and depressed but now many things have changed in four and a half years and here I am in ANOTHER NEW TOWN. This one is just a tad bit bigger.

My 5th Blog WOW!!

Here are my three quotes.

”We really care what other people think of us so for example you know when you upload a new photo a new profile photo of yourself on Facebook that’s a moment where our mind is very vulnerable to knowing what other people think of my new profile photo and so when we get new likes on our profile photo Facebook knowing  this could actually message me and say  oh you have new likes on your profile photo and we it knows that we’ll be vulnerable to that moment because we all really care about when were tagged in a photo or when we have a new profile photo and the thing is that they control the dial for when and how long technology companies control the dial for when and how long your profile photo shows up on other peoples newsfeed so they can orchestrate it so that other people more often end up liking your profile photo over a delayed period of time for examples so that you end up having to more frequently come back and see what the new likes are”. -Chamath Palihapitiya-  This is 100% correct almost everyone cares about what someone else says or every social media site so many likes it’s ridiculous I have pulled myself away from social media a ton!!

“Um no, Senator no I would not choose to do that publicity here. Senator I think everyone should have control over how their information is used and as we’ve talked about some of the other questions I think that, that is laid out in, in some of the documents but more importantly you want to give people control in the product itself so the most important way this happens is across our service that everyday people comes to our service to choose to share photos or send messages.” The Senator makes Mark speechless and uncomfortable after asking him a private question. We are in control but only of so much.  We cant not make Facebook only see our post but instead its public with family and friends. The Senator made many great points of how social media is taking over our lives and ruining our privacy. Mark Zuckerberg the man who made Facebook a family/ friend site may not have turned out as he wanted. Why cant we know his location or even where he’s at?

“Imagine like when you take that to the extreme where you know bad actors can now manipulate large swathes of people to do anything you want its just a its really really bad state of affairs and we compound the problem right we curate our lives around this perceived sense of perfection because we get rewarded in these short term signals hearts, likes, thumbs up and we conflate that with value and we conflated with truth and instead what it really is is fake brittle popularity that’s short term and that leaves you even more and admit it vacant and empty before you did it because then it forces you into this vicious cycle where you’re like what’s the next thing I need to do now because I need it back think about that compounded by two billion people and then think about how people react then to the perceptions of others.” -Chamath Palihapitiya

My opinion Social media is taking over were trying to keep up with social media, Its like wanting us to see something that’s not there, so we go searching for something. Social media is only short term and it can take over some peoples lives which is crazy to say but two million people also have different perceptions than me and any other person on this earth. It is ruining our lives effecting our attention span and many more.

My rewritten blog.

 Blog#2 Revision Blog #4

To start this off my names Chelsey Hirsch. I came from a big city. Nashville Tennessee as many of you may or may not know. Now let me tell you all about back home.

Back home was a very safe area growing up as a kid. My house was on the corner of the subdivision. A big stop sign in my front yard the bus was always right there! Here it is my seventh grade year in middle school. I remember this like it happened to me yesterday! I was standing in the lunch line getting ready to go into the cafeteria. I see these two new boys with long flippy hair. One of them walks up to me  me and asked me where our gymnasium was? I get out of line and direct him to the gymnasium as I look over the boy is following us. They both look at me and say “were brother”. Jesse and Taylor, Jesse was in my grade and Taylor was in the tenth grade.

I started seeing the brothers every day,  both of them rode the same bus as me and my brother. WE GOT OFF AT THE SAME STOP BUT THEY ALWAYS WALKED THROUGH THIS BACK ALLEY. I never new what the little alley strip led to. As the school year was almost over for summer. More and more it got closer for school to end we all were together every day. The last day of school they were like “come on we got something to show you”. As we were walking in the neighbors yard through the alley was I was nervous! I’m walking I’m walking going up this little hill. Now we established the “HILL” our place on their property. There was a dirt bike hill bike jumping hills that’s all they did was ride bike and do crazy tricks. I cant tell you how much I saw these boys get hurt! We all met up at the hill every day.

The day comes I meet the whole family, a great feeling am I right? All boys and their momma. Jolene was like a second mom to me. Jolene Jesse, Kris , Mykei, and Taylor. We had so many bonfire/parties. Our friend group got bigger, I brought my  four girlfriends into the clique Tresia and Alex dee dee and destiny . I’m telling you we were all inseparable. They were like all my brothers we had so much fun and some bad times but who doesn’t. I couldn’t  tell you how many times we have rode our bikes to the gas station. “Superstop” was the best. If we ever needed to find each other we would just show up no matter what time it was. These boys were the greatest childhood friends growing up. I know them like the back of my hand and I know home like the back of my hand. All the memories and the boys in general had a huge impact on my life, that I honestly never thought they would. I miss the memories and the hill and just Tenneessee!
